Deck Officer (Nautical Studies)

As a Deck Officer, you can grow within a shipping company from
Officer in Charge of the Navigation Watch to Captain on large
ocean-going vessels. This great responsibility requires thorough
education and training. During your education as a Deck Officer you
will learn to navigate, to manoeuvre and in more general terms, to
operate the ship. This includes safety courses like fire fighting
and lifesaving, cargo handling and stability of the ship, but also
environmental and quality issues.
During your study you will get training on state-of-the-art, full
mission bridge simulators, in order to prepare you for a
professional career at sea in the best possible manner. On the
simulator you will learn to manage all the different instruments.
This training is an excellent preparation for safe watch keeping
when you start working for a shipping company.

Marine Engineering Officer

As a student Marine Engineering you will learn how all the
different technical
installations on a ship are working and you will learn how to
maintain them properly.
As
a part of your study, you will get trained on high-tech, engine room
simulators and machine laboratories in order to prepare you as good
as possible for your professional career. On the simulators for
instance, you will learn what procedures must be followed to start
up a cold engine before you can set sail. You will also learn how to
act professionally in case of failures. Inside our new College a
replica of an engine room will be built. This machine laboratory
allows you to practice in real-life conditions. You won’t find such
a unique training environment anywhere else in Oman, or in other GCC
countries.

When you register for the Marine Engineering programme you have

Port, Shipping and Transport Management

“Educating tomorrow’s managers” is the aim of the Port, Shipping and
Transport Management programme. Today’s managers in the transport
chain are confronted with immense challenges in the transport
industry. Some examples are: containerisation, computerisation and
information technology, inter-modal transportation and new logistic
concepts.
The course provides the participants not only with a solid basis in
managerial subjects but also with in-depth knowledge of the maritime
transport sector and its latest developments.
